Acupuncture - Oriental Medicine - Tuina
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is often thought of as a new alternative therapy. In reality it has been in successful practice for over 5,000 years.
Acupuncture works thru the insertion of very fine needles into points on the body. This signals the body influencing physiological functions. These points are found on meridians that carry life force or Qi throughout the body. Qi influences and assists all essential life activities. The body is then called upon to use its innate ability to heal itself on the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical aspects of life.
Oriental Medicine
Herbs are a very important part of Oriental Medicine. Herbs nourish the system to keep balance and harmony. There are wonderful herbal products that are made with integrity and currently exceed the international GMP standards. Using regional plants provides optimum synergy with the environment around us.
Tuina
Tuina (Tui Na) is a form of medical massage. When hands-on treatment is needed Tuina is used to help move the energy and open an avenue for optimum healing.
Jennifer’s Philosophy
My approach to patient care incorporates a gentle acupuncture technique partnered with compassion and a strong belief in patient education. In addition to their acupuncture treatment, Jennifer encourages her patients to make lifestyle choices that support their optimal health, such as practicing tai chi, yoga, qi gong, or other meditation and exercise; maintaining healthy nutrition, including vitamin and herbal supplementation when appropriate; and being involved in the community.
I believe that health is a manifestation of balance, both within the body itself and between the body and the external environment. When the body is internally balanced and in harmony with the external environment, energy flows smoothly throughout to nourish all organs and tissues. By adjusting and stimulating the flow of energy through acupuncture, I stimulate the body's natural healing ability to maintain health and protect against disease.
